Last week we spoke with Erin Lindquist, Field Recruiting Specialist, and this week we are talking to Jerry Meier, a Loss Prevention Field Auditor, and a Mattress Giant Transfer. Our fifth installment of the “We the people of Mattress Firm” series brings to you a look into Loss Prevention.
Q: Jerry, what events led you to be a Loss Prevention Field Auditor?
A: Before working in mattress retail I spent a few years as a photographer at Texas A&M University’s college of Veterinary Medicine. I also managed a camera store in College Station. For 14 years I worked for a wholesale firm in Dallas that sold merchandise to camera and audio visual stores. On July 8, 1993, I started with Mattress Giant as a sales associate. Over the years I eventually was promoted to inventory compliance manager. I stayed with Mattress Giant until my move to Houston to join the Mattress Firm team.
Q: What does your current position as a Loss Prevention Field Auditor entail?
A: My primary task is to review compliance to company procedures and to safety issue. I also conduct merchandise inventory.
Q: What are some of the main skills you use?
A: Definitely my background as an inventory manager is very helpful. Believe it or not, my background in photography also helps with the documentation of issues.
Q: What is your favorite part about your current position?
A: There are so many things I could say here. Is “Everything” a viable answer?
Q: Finally why do you love Mattress Firm?
A: The main reason I love Mattress Firm is because of the great people I work with and the great work atmosphere.
